The University Business Linkage – Faculty of Allied Health Sciences (UBL-FAHS) coordinates UBL activities within the Faculty and serves as a bridge between the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences and the University Business Linkage of the University of Jaffna. Established on 24th June 2020, UBL-FAHS is dedicated to fostering innovation, managing intellectual property, and promoting collaboration between academia and industry. The unit supports the commercialisation of research and development outcomes and encourages the exchange of knowledge and resources with external partners.
Objectives
- Promote creative research, development, innovation, and commercialisation.
- Protect and manage the Faculty’s intellectual property and innovations.
- Facilitate collaboration and exchange of knowledge and technology between the Faculty and industry.

Functions
UBL-FAHS supports the initiation and development of business-oriented innovative projects within the Faculty and encourages students to engage in entrepreneurial activities. It organises training and coaching programmes to cultivate innovation skills and works closely with academic staff to ensure the smooth operation of UBL activities. The unit facilitates intellectual property rights management and provides consultancy services to assist with commercialisation. It is also responsible for establishing an incubator to support inventors and start-ups, as well as supporting the development of a Faculty Enterprise Unit and the formation of an Enterprise Club to foster a culture of entrepreneurship within the Faculty.
UBL-FAHS committee meetings are held once every two months, and special meetings may be convened at the discretion of the Coordinator. The minutes of each meeting are submitted to the Faculty Board of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. External experts may be invited for consultation and guidance whenever necessary.
