Overview

Dr. Rasaratnam Karunaithas is a Senior Lecturer in Medical Laboratory Sciences. He earned his doctoral degree in Medical Technology from Mahidol University, Thailand. His academic and research expertise spans hematology, molecular diagnostics, bioactive peptides, laboratory quality assurance, and clinical research.

Dr. Karunaithas’s research emphasizes translational biomedical science, particularly anticancer and antileukemic peptides derived from medicinal plants, hematological diagnostics, and population-specific reference intervals. His work has resulted in patented innovations and publications in indexed journals and international conferences. In addition to research, he actively contributes to postgraduate supervision, curriculum development, research ethics, and academic leadership through service on university-level committees. He is also engaged in initiatives that integrate medical laboratory science with public health, gender equity, and social responsibility, reflecting a commitment to multidisciplinary research collaboration and evidence-based healthcare practice.
